does anyone know if i can route DDI to destination to set hunt group out of service as it does not seem to work when programmed thus:-

line group ID 0
ICR eg 123456789
destination *81

where *81 represents the following short code entry

code *81
tel number 500(hunt group extension)
feature set hunt group Out of service

suggestions appreciated

You cannot call system features from a external line.
If you happen to have a free alog trunk and a free alog station then i see possibilities.

you could send it to Voicemail Pro and use a Play configuration to change the hunt group service.

Using VMPro you can also send it to a call flow with a "Set User Variable". Done correctly the one number can turn on and off the setting. Check the examples on the marketingtools web site.

There should be several ways of doing this.

If routing it directly to the system shortcode doesn't work, (it works for shortcodes that points to VMPro shortcodes) you could route it to a VM Pro module and from there transfer the call to the system shortcode that changes the HuntGroup setting.

Ah, appearently you do have a free alog trunk and a free alog station.
Route the incoming DDI call to a analog trunk wich is connected to a analog station and you should get a IPO dialling tone, enter your shortcode wich can be done as IPO sees you as a internal extension.

I never tried it on IPO but have done it several times on other systems.
