Income Statement ?? Crystal Rpts 10

I have created a cross tab for my income statement, but when I create the formula for Beginning Retained Earnings the Total (which I am using as a YTD) is not a total, it comes from Period 1... how do I display this?? H..E..L..P
I am only using Columns (for the Periods) and Summarized Fields for the account information.
