MS Outlook 2k2 hitting MS Exchange 2003 server.

I have a user whose e-mail goes missing from his inbox. He can 'search' for the e-mail and find it without a problem - in fact, when you look at the properties, the box gives the location as 'Inbox' but it is not there.. believe me, it's not there.

I suspected auto-archive (still do a little bit) - but the last e-mail that disappeared was only 7 days old - his auto-archive settings were for 14 days.

Auto-archive has since been turned off, but I need to make sure this problem goes away.

Any thoughts

Laptop? PDA? POP3 client? Rule to move items to a PST? Dodgy Filter setting on the View menu?

Hardwired workstation.
Exchange client
No Rule remotely related to the account in question
No oddball filters

The user did remark that the messages in question are ones that get marked 'For Follow up': although, I guarantee that because they are marked for followup is the only reason they notice the e-mail left the inbox to begin with - the user has a 'Search Folder' set to monitor e-mails tagged 'for follow up'so naturally that is where they still appear.

If they check via OWA, do they appear there?

Sorry - the user has rearranged his e-mail and the 'missing' message has been moved so I can no longer test options until another incident occurs.

Thank you for your assistance so far!

Try checking the view / arrange by /current view setting. It is possible that it has been set to only show messages less than 7 days old.
