I want to create an extension that will only accept calls from a couple of other pre-defined extensions.

What is the best way to accomplish this?

I tried implementing a system shortcode that matched the extension and sent the call to busy. However, that didn't work because defined extension numbers take presedence in the the dial matching sequence.

Put the phone on DND & ad the allowed extns to the DND execption list

to prevent the user turning it off create a user short codes *00 & *09 that use feature "Busy"

Unfortunatly if you are using 20XX phones uyou cannot disable the no calls key :-(

OK. That worked well.

Is there a similar technique to restrict inbound calls to a hunt group?

Off the top of my head, create a dummy "user" that is call forwarded to the hunt group extension, then apply the same DND setups to that user. I'm not sure which is looked at first, DND or FWD.

Hope this helps...

My Earlier suggestion also works for group calls

Put all members of group on DND & add the allowed callers into the DND exception list.
make sure the phone is enabled in the group.

If necessary the wild card N can be used in the exception list, for example in the UK 0N would allow all external calls.
