Inbound Calls Drop

Hello,

I have an odd problem. I have a remote site with a voice gateway router that registers to a CUCM (9.1.2). They have a PRI for in/outbound calls. They can place calls no problem, but inbound calls drop sometimes. They see the incoming call, go to answer it and then the call drops. The caller will hear it ring and then just get a busy signal when they answer. The odd part is sometimes the calls connect. It doesn't appear to be a channel on the PRI because I've completed calls on channels that have also dropped calls.

I opened a case with Cisco but every test call we did went through (of course). This was on Friday, now this morning I made a call out there and when the voice mail should have picked up it didn't. It rang a few more times then went busy.

Anyone ever have this problem? Thanks

Its a codec issue. Grabbing the CM traces will probably show it but it sounds like some phones or whatever are looking for G711 and getting G729 instead. Could be a region setting, or a Transcoder issue.

Thanks for the reply. I was looking the voice call summary and noticed one call at 729 and another at 711. I've checked other voice gateways and see the same happening but haven't had any complaints for anyone else. Thanks

How many MRGL's? If its a bunch, it might be just one that is causing an issue for some reason.

Sorry, meant to reply but forgot. I'm not sure what resolved the issue but the calls are no longer dropping. We have a device called a Steelhead that sits in-line between our WAN router and LAN switch. I cycled the power on the one where the CUCM is located and updated the os... haven't had an issue since. Did the same at the site that was having the issue as well. I'm not sure the the Steelhead was the issue since we have one at every site and no other site had problems. Thanks
