Inaudible Voice Mail prompts 1

We have a Merlin Legend 7.0 with Messaging 1.1.9. For no apparent reason, we suddenly can't hear the voice mail prompts. People can leave messages, and we can retrieve them by entering the correct extension, passcode, etc, but there is no voice telling us "Please enter your extension number, follwed by the # sign." The automated attendant is still audible.

I've been told that the hard drive in the messaging unit is probably going bad. I'm planning to replace it, but is there any way to save voice messages that are already in the system? Or does anyone have suggestions on making it speak again? I've tried restarting.
 
I think with Audix anyway there is a tape you can use to back it up or use a flash memory card in the voice mail system.

You may want to check and see what your flash memory can do go to Avaya.com and click support
