Inaccessible_Boot_Device 1

I have tried to boot my pc running windows 2k professional but always get a blue screen with stop error which states inaccessible boot device.
I tried to boot in the safe mode but same result but will like to know if there is another means to get the drive working

Sounds like the master boot record could be corrupt.

If you have a win 2k install cd then use that to boot up and start the recovery console and run "chkdsk /r"

Thanks for all the advice.I solved the problem using the recovery console using the chkdsk /f command and I was able to boot normally
