I have a western digital4000-BB that has Windows 2000 on it. Upon trying to start up this morning the Windows 2000 screen shows briefly and than kicks to a blue screen that states that there is an inaccessible hard drive. I have restarted a few times, and the same screen come up. Made sure connections are good and switched out another working IDE cable, but still get the same error. Any suggestions?

I would hazard a guess that the drive has developed a bad block at the location of a windows critical file. My next move would be to mound that drive as a slave on another PC and run spinrite on it from grc.com to get a health check. With any luck spinrite will be able to fix the problem.
