InAAU Conference - San Diego

Is anyone going?

There was a suggestion last year to have members of Tek-Tips meet somewhere during the conference.

It never happened...So I thought that it would be good to see how we could try to do it this year...(Someone suggested standing on a table and yelling to Tek-Tips members at lunch...Standing on the table would get quite a bit attention in itself)

Any ideas???

I just registered, and the early registration deadline is fast approaching...

The San Diego Avaya Users Group hosted a hospitality suite last time it was a blast with standing room only and in San Diego, no plans to do it again but we do plan on crashing NACR's party's, it will probably be at the Marriott. Also if you like I could put up a sign at the table on the first lunch on Monday for people to meet at - Or we could put special stickers on our badges.

Ok... I'll stand up and do the dance if you really want me too... :)
 
I'll be there. I would be glad to meet some of you.
 
Well, where should we meet? I leave to go to the conference on Thursday...I need a little vacation before the conference. I usually don't go to the lunches that are provided. I do plan on breakfast this year though. My hotel is not providing it for free this year. Anything to help out the slim budget that I am on.

What do you all think? Should we put up a sign for those who live on Tek-Tips every day?

Breakfast is early! If I get up in time I'll take your sign to lunch with me & find the rest of the clan.

I fly in on Saturday Morning. I don't intend to eat lunch or breakfast provided by the conference.

I would however take advantage of those times to meet some of you folks.


I'm staying at the Bahia Hotel in Mission bay. I booked late so all the rooms nearbye were gone.


I'm right next to Sea World. Too Bad it's $80 per person.
 
Guys (and girls) I hate that I am not going to be able to make this year. Things are crazier here than ever. A few weeks ago we had a fire sprinkler main pipe burst and flooded about 5 floors. We have been moving people all over needless to say. They estimate it dumped around 350,000 gallons of water.

I have been really looking forward to meeting all of you. I would really like it if you guys could take some pics for me and give them to Toni. She has my email and can send them to me.

We may be able to pick out the best of the bunch and post them on a website for all us to enjoy.

You guys have a great time and think about me here slaving away while you guys are out drinking beers together..

Pictures? I never even thought about pictures. I was in San Antonio last year, and carried my camera around the whole conference, and I never took 1 picture at the conference. I did get plenty of pics of San Antonio, and I have them play on a slide show on my extra monitor on my desk. I need to get some new pics.
I will make up some kind of a table card, and see how many people show up. I thought that there would be lots of users that would see these postings. It sure would be nice to put some faces with some names that are on this site. It is good to see that we are getting some international participation as well.
I will keep checking back, even though I leave tomorrow...

ok .. so we're clear.

Somone is going to put up a sign on a table (firs t table if possible?) at lunch on Munday.

I will be looking for the sign and I will also have my camera.
 
I'll bring my camera too! We will figure out signs and stuff if for some reason it dosen't happen on Monday then we will check again on Tuesday. Maybe if I remember I can find some colored dots or stars we could stick on our badges once we are found so we can spot eachother later on.

One question though, are we letting those Yahoo Group/Avaya List people in on our little club? I saw some notes, they are already trying to copy us. We can invite them to join so there are more of us or we could just continue being better than them. :) (Yes, I am totally immature!!!)

I live in town but managed to snag a room at the Mariott, (bay view baby!) so I don't have to dis-assemble my mini NOC center so I can work on requests in the evenings.

It's not always been so glamorous...In the past I've pulled the "will work for food" card to go to InAAU when my company would not sponsor. You may remember me as managing "the mis-information booth" in San Francisco, "Yeah, you go down the hall, first left, second door on the right, down the stairs and then just go straight, you'll bump right into it". Passed out tee-shirts and other odd jobs in exchange for the entry badge. I paid for my own airfare and found someone willing to share hotel with me for free.

Next time though, I want to present so I can get me and a co-presenter in for free then I'll get the cool blue ribbon on my badge, then walk around like I'm all important.

Anyway - Anyone trying out for certification testing? I was hoping to get my claws on some top secret test guides but so far no one has pulled through.

I can't speak for everyone but I personally don't mind teaming up with the Yahoo folks.

If anything it will bring more exposure to this site.
 
Ok, I found my star stickers and invited the ya-hoo's this morning. Here is the color of stars so you can find eachother:

Gold = Yahoo Avaya-List
Blue/Gold = Member of Both
 
Hi everyone!

I wish I could go. My company would not allow me to (keeping me chained to my desk...) ;)

Anyway, I was wondering for all you lucky folks who could go, if anyone hears anything interesting about the SS+U debacle please post it for those of us who are trapped in the office?

I recently read jimbojimbo's post about SS+U, took his advice, and found out that if I upgrade to a CM5 w/SS+U my yearly maintenance cost would go from 31K per year to 113K per year. I'd be interested to hear if anyone else at the event talks about this, or if Avaya comments on the issue.

I have made up the table card...Nothing fancy, it just says Tek-Tips.com. I should be there for breakfast on Monday morning, and probably for lunch. I can hand off the table card to someone else, so you all can sit together. As I said before, I usually do not do lunch on these trips. I bring my wife along for the trip, and she really enjoys going somewhere for lunch each day.

gblucas, I was late to breakfast, and got there about 7:55 - I'm sitting in General Session looking for you. I'll be in Class 403 VoIP Monitoring tools. I'm wearing a blue sweater and black pants, blonde hair. I have the camera and the stars!!! If I don't find you here I'll look for you again at lunch.

By the way those of you who aren't able to make it, InAAU is TOTALLY AWESOME this year, I'm having a great time and it's only Monday at 8:30 AM. Can't wait to meet you all!!!
