Word is hanging as it tries to find files that have been moved or deleted from the list in recently used files under the File menu. Have found entry in registry that deal with this, but do not know what to change it to. It reads "Recent" at the moment.
Can anyone offer advice?
Many thanks

Word stores its most recently used files in a different way to that of Excel, Powerpoint and even Access. Annoyingly enough.

I am not sure how to remove the files from the most recently used file list through the registry, but heres a way in which you can get around it:

1. Open Microsoft Word,

2. Then hold down the CTRL, ALT and - (minus) keys. The pointer will turn into a subtraction sign.

3. With this new pointer, click on the FILE menu and select the filename you want to remove from the list.

Thats it. Once you have finished, you can press ESCAPE a couple of times and the MINUS cursor will disappear.

Thanks for that I'll have a go.
