In which directory to save files - Newbie Qus?

New to Apache web server, just want to know where to save webserver files in what location of the Apache group directory? Then later on I can access it via localhost.

Apache documents are placed in the DocumentRoot as defined in httpd.conf. On many linux systems this is often /var/ on Windows sytems I believe it's usually C:\apache\htdocs.
