In the taskbar "notification area" some active icons fails to appear!

Which icons? I have the same problem with the Task Manager icon. If I load it just after bootup it will always appear in the notification area. If I leave it for a few minutes before loading it, chances are I wont see it in the Notification area. I have just assumed it is a bug in XP and have left it at that.
In your case you could try running the System File Checker program by typing Sfc /Scannow in the Run Box.
