Hi,
What does the operator *= in SQL do?
Eg:select x,y,z from tab1,tab2 where tab1.a *= tab2.a

It's an older syntax for specifying a LEFT OUTER JOIN in the WHERE clause. It is not supported in SQL-92 which requires that JOINS be specified in the FROM clause. Some DBMS systems continue to support it as an SQL extension.
