What are the functions in range and between actually calculating?

Are they >= and <=

or

> and <

Between always (AFAIK) takes the borders into account (<= / >=) Between is used for non-discreet values, as it takes into account every possible value (between and including borders).
In range would be used for discreet values, I guess..
