In-Place NSS Upgrade

i was following instructions on

about doing an "In-Place Upgrade" to NSS...
said to run ipcu NetWare volume_name

i got an error that said
"SERVER-5.00-918: Loader cannot find public symbol: zMALAccess for module
IPCU.NLM
Error processing External Records.
Module IPCU.NLM NOT loaded"

where should i go
