in Outlook, when creating a new personal file folder to archive messages, a friend of mine forgot to label the name in the little box that pops up when defining the new .pst file. So, the folder in not there in outlook's file folders although it resides with all the other file folders with archived messages. You cannot delete it, rename it...access denied, etc. How do I reclaim the folder and add it to the file folder list. I cannot find any way to invoke the little data box that comes up when you create the file folder in the first place.

Thanks!

You should be able to delete the .pst file if you completely close outlook down.

The folder should still appear within Outlook's folder list, it just would not have a name showing in the folder listing. You can add or remove Personal Folders by clicking on Tools > Services. Maybe try adding it back in through here.

troyu,

I tried going into Tools>Services like you suggest but the problem exists there too. The .pst file exists but it does not show up under that Tools>Services menu. The file is 32K...just a basic start size. but it is not registered in the file folders like all the other .pst files. I need to find a way to register it. I haven't been able to try deleting it yet because i haven't gotten access again...will let you know how that idea pans out.

Try this:
Go into Tools > Services. Then click on "Add". Select "Personal Folders". Click on OK. Locate the .pst file, and click on Open. Click on OK to add it. Here you can also specify a name for the folder.
