Greetings all, I am new to the Norstar systems and could use some assistance. Our local Telco is not especially helpful or responsive, so we need to know how to run the system. We have the New Norstar MICS 0x32 with an additional 16 station module and 6 analog truck cards. I can assign lines and extension numbers to stations, but all of our analog lines are in use and I would like to set up some internal extensions on the station side that the receptionist could transfer to. First, is there a rime or reason to how the system assigns line numbers? We currently have 20 trunk lines coming to the building but when I do the feature ** line they are assigned numbers all over the board from 001 to 080. Do the numbers correlate to locations on the punch down blocks? Second, how do you know what extension numbers are available (not sure if I am using the right terminology), i.e. we have 20 numbers that you can dial from the outside world that go to the stations assigned those trunk lines, but if I wanted to set up additional interior stations, do you assign the station a line that is not currently used and then what extension number can you assign the station? I know this is convoluted, let me know if I need to clarify anything. Thanks in advance!

Sounds as if you need to hire a tech.

if you have any experience with any phonesystem/pbx ... and happen to have the installer guide for the norstar.

there is a detailed wiring guide, which tells u which cable is which port/ tn.

or as ARR said "hire a tech"
