Do you have the same problem from Safe Mode, or in Normal Mode, but as a different user?

Have you tried cleaning out your temp files, running Disk Cleanup, Defragging, and even running System Restore?

Try running ChkDsk to check your drive for errors. Right-click your Drive icon/ Properties/ Tools/ Error Checking. Select both boxes.


Have you checked for malware?

Is it possible you've recently upgraded to Office 2007 and possibly put it on an older, horsepower-constrained machine?

I only ask/offer this because I recently did the very same thing and then very much regretted doing the upgrade. We wound up replacing the PC, which in retrospect should have been replaced a couple years ago.
