I just switched out an NT machine with office 2000 for a PC with windows 2000 and office XP. The user would regularly email shortcuts to files that had a # in the file name, but now with XP, hyperlink seems to be the only option and the link doesn't seem to work when there is a # in the filename. Any suggestions?

In an internet address the # symbol refers to a bookmark or anchor in a page and by clicking the link you will be taken to the page then jump down to where the bookmark is.

e.g.
will go to the page index.html then find the bookamrk/anchor example and jump to it.

Windows XP or any other OS that sees the file names as internet addresses will think they are bookmarker in a html document.

I am not shure how to solve the problem but hope this helps. I thinkyou can turn off the hyper link option int he folder options but i am not sure.
