This is my first time posting here, but I been unsuccessfully trying to find information about Oracle HR outside of the Oracle website. I am currently an Active Server Pages (ASP) programmer that works with VBScript, Visual Basic, HTML, SQL etc. I also play with ASP.Net and PHP on the side. Our head boss, which is not the one I directy answer to, has made the decision to switch to an Oracle COTS solution rather than having in-house web based solutions in order to save money. I don't know much about Oracle outside of them having DBs and applications, but Oracle HR and Oracle Discover are some of the buzzwords I heard going around when it came to us. I am mad because they are going to make me work fulltime in this shop. Knowing that I will no longer has access to source code or databases makes me rather disappointed. Will becoming an Oracle "configurator" decrease my job marketability.

Probably not. They'll likely ask you to design a more user-friendly (niche-friendly) interface that would correspond to your company's business. The Oracle database and entry screens CONTINUALLY get updated where I work. So, while your job might lose some of its entertaining perks, you probably won't lose much marketability.
