in doubt of hba lights and reponsiveness in the system

hi,

we are using two cards x6767a on a sun fire v440 box. i was just wondering about the incident that happened last night...

hba lights are green when a fibre channel cable is attached between the hba port and switch port. when the cable is removed, the amber light blinks.

"however," when both cables were detached, i noticed that the green light remains lit. i tried to power down the server "without any cables" and when it booted up, the lights are still green. i was expected the hba to have a blinking amber light since there was no fiber cables on it.

in addition, the hba's are intermmitent. there are times when it does not register to the switch. and there are times when it registers properly to the switch. that is for both hba's.

is this a signal of a defective hba?

The LEDs' should be blinking amber with cables detached.

Were the HBAs' operating normally prior to this incident?

If problems existed from the start then insure all the SAN
patches and HBAs' patches are up to rev.
