In a paperless environment, Laptop of executives contain data/ information organised in a convenient manner in various subfolders etc.. In case of a harddisk crash it is very time consuming to recover the data. Is there any back up solution to take the entire hardisk as such and restore in case of an eventuality.

This might be an awkward question but can't you backup the critical files to a network server?

No network? Do they have internet access? There are plenty of sites that allow fairly secure 25 meg uploads at no cost.

No network or internet? This gets a little hairy but Win 98 allows direct connections between two computers using the LPT or COM ports.

There is always a solution. You just have to dig a little and use your imagination.

If you have Execs with laptops you must have a network. Suggest you use (dare I say it?) My Briefcase.

Failing that, have a login script that copies c:\mydocu~1\*.* /s to their home directories.

All of our execs with laptops have a zip drive here. Couldnt they back up their data every day.
