SPAM VICTIM SEEKING HELP.
I am trying to stop an open relay from delivering spam to my server. I am NOT the open relay in question.
I have tried message filtering on the open relay’s domain. This doesn’t work. The spammer is generating random sender addresses. Therefore, I need to filter the open relay’s IP.
Doc Q193437 states that I can message filter by IP using the format:
@xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
I tried adding a known open relay as:
@64.105.93.186 and also
@064.105.093.186
I tried the second format after the first failed to filter. I used telnet to verify the open relay was still able to deliver messages to my server.
I stopped and restarted the IMS service after each change to make sure the IMS recognizes my entries. I also have \Turfdir and have set "Delete messages instead of moving to the Turf directory" just in case.
I would prefer to modify my Exch settings instead of my firewall. Anyone know why this doesn't work as documented by MS.
