Has anyone out there tried or better still succeeded in loading the old IMS mat on a really up to date laptop?

I've just got a shiny new laptop wit SATA drives and it just doesn't want to play. Any tips gratefully recieved!

Regards

Ozzie

The old MAT program was a dos based program. The best we could do with it is on WIN 98, in a dos shell. We keep some old DOS PC's here for just that purpose.

Ozzie....Do you have access to NTAC? I have it working on XP. There is a document under knowledge base. It is solution ID: S7A7QNC article title: Running DOS based MAT Commands under Window's Operating Systems.

I too had some success with DOS commands on XP but was never able to get the backup commands to work for some odd reason.

Dual boot has always been the best way to go regardless of Windows platform.

Well I finally got everything working. That will teach me for buying an HP laptop. I managed after a lot of heartache to make the machine dual boot. there is a wealth of support in the HP forums if not from HP themselves. The thing I hadn't tried was to ignore an error message!. I had done all the usual requirements for such things as Ansi.sys but was geting an error message about a programme accessing the hard drive and as I was wary of screwing thingsup had aborted each ime. Ironically I finally decided to "ignore" the error and everything booted perfectly and I haven't seen the error message since! Not only have I got the IMS software working, I have even sorted out CoSessions!

Thanks for the advice recieved from those that offered help.

I found that a lot of the problems I was having were due to the USB to serial adaptor I was using . I switched to a "Prolific" adaptor and wiped out 95 if not 99% of the problems I was having!!!!!
