IMS and outlook 2003 client

Has anyone successfully configured IMS to work with outlook 2003 clients? Also, since upgrading to R3 I have a client where IMS works only on outlook 2000, yet TAPI works only on outlook 2003... what kind of weirdness is that? They use both IMS and TAPI dialing so I don't even have the option of switching them all to one outlook client or the other.
