anybody got any tips for speeding up query performance in ReportNet ?

e.g. It takes 45 seconds to retrieve a result set in ReportNet, although it only takes 5 seconds if I use something more direct e.g. RapidSQL to run the exact same query.

Hi,

Plz try this.

1) Go to Query Explorer.
2) Select the tabular model of the query.
3) In the property box select "Auto Group & Summarize" equal to NO

try running the report hope this helps..

Regards
Abhijit

Set Auto group and summarise to NO & set all individual filed properties to be the same but no difference.

If I cut and paste the Native SQL from ReportNet into e.g. Rapid SQL the query take 1 sec to return results that in reportNet takes 1min...

As a footnote, If I convert the query to SQL and manualy enter the parameters rather than adding values via prompts it runs as quickly as I would expect.

I suspect its soemthing to do with selecting date ranges through prompts.

Anyone have any experiance with slow query performance using prompted reports ?

Try to change your "queryprocessing" parameter to "Database Only". this will improve the performance.

45 secs before or after entering the date prompt values? BTW, a date prompt shouldn't be be a pick-up list from actual fact data.

Cheers
