Impromtu V7 field size export limitation

Hi

I am experiencing a problem exporting data from Cognos Impromptu
V7.0.809.0

I have just one field that is potentially up to 1000 chars long and am
confident that the application is returning the data as found.

My problem is in exporting the data. My preferred format is dbf but have
tried csv and txt. The problem appears to be a limitation on field size
(256 apparently) during export and a dialog box pops up to inform that
there has been a truncation due to the limitations of the export
application.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
