Hi,

I have a question on impromptu sub-reports. I have a total in a sub-report that I would like to add to a total in another sub-report and a few values on the main report to come up with a grand total. Is cognos capable of doing this, or is there a way to work around it?

toddl,

Not possible in my experience. A sub-reports can take results from the main report, but not the other way around and certainly not from other sub-reports. Let me know if anyone has found a way around this.

Sorry,

I'm in agreement with Dave on this one, Impromptu doesn't support what you require unfortunately.

A not very friendly workaround may be to calculate and save your subreport totals as hotfiles and link these into your main report.

without knowing more about your data structure and report requirements this may or may not be a possibility.

Another alternative would be to use a different reporting tool such as crystal reports which does allow this functionality.
