I am trying to view the SQL for an Impromptu report. I am in the SQL Query window, on the Profile tab. I have clicked the SQL radio button and the Edit button. I receive the message "Cannot Edit SQL. This report cannot be translated to a single database-only query". I have also tried the Shift+Ctrl+Alt to get the "magic SQL" window and still receive the same message. The version is 7.0.809.0. Any suggestions on how to view the SQL?

save it as IQD or SQL.
and open the saved file in notepad.

HaleyJo,

Look for an eliminate any local-only functions in the report. Even with these gone there may be issues with editing the SQL. Does the report include multiple outer joins? If so, Impromptu will not let you manipulate the SQL, as it is doing the work of creating multiple SQL statements and 'stitching' the results back together.

Saving the report as an IQD file did the trick. At this time all I needed was to view the SQL. I will keep in mind the issue with local-only functions if I need to edit the SQL. Thanks for the help!
