Hi,

I have a report where I use some prompts (for example start date and end date) as criteria and I show this dates in a header for information to user. When the report extract some lines the dates are show but when the report extract 0 line then the dates aren't show. Is it normal? What's append?

The dates will be come null when no lines are show? I have a other prompt fields and this one are ok.

thank's in advance.
Gilles

I believe when you display a 'prompt' value, for example in the title box, it will show all the time regardless the resulting answer set.

are you sure you're using the Prompt fields in the header and not the report date fields ? as far as i'm aware prompt field data should show irrespective of data returned.

I agree with "Giles", if you use(d) the "INSERT", "PROMPT VALUES"....to place your dates into the header area, you should get them ALL THE TIME. Regardless of the number of rows returned from the actual query.

We do this in all reports that prompt for dates. They work for us. Beware that type-in and list/select prompts will NOT show in the report until version 7.1
