Hi,

I have a problem with Impromptu, IWR and prompts at the moment which someone might have seen before.

I have many existing Impromptu reports with prompts and normally I insert the value chosen in the prompt into the report header as a reminder to the user - I have always done this with the "Insert - Prompt Variable" command.

The prompts are report prompts and I have created several reports that are used purely for feeding the prompts they are typically always set up as follows (2 columns):

Filter Value: Prompt Value:
06010 ABC
06020 BCA
06030 CAB

etc......

So when the user runs the report they see select CAB from the prompt and the report is filtered on 06030, in the header of the report the user will see something like "Report for company: CAB"

Then on thursday the prompts (originating from reports only - not catalog or type ins) stopped working. The users still get prompted correctly and the report filters correctly but - in the header the user now sees "Report for company: 06030" which is correct but doesn't mean anything to them.

In the prompt manager the "Filter Value" field is set as the "currently using" vlaue and rhe "Prompt Value" is is set and he "Currently Displaying" value.

In Impromptu client - the reports and prompts display correctly, In Impserve - the reports and prompts display correctly. The problem only occurs when the report is published to upfornt and rendered in PDF.

Finally the existing reports work correctly in IWR untill they get republished and then the problem effects them.

Has anyone seen this before ?

Stephen

Nobody here seen this one one either ? -it has cognos stumped too !

The only thing I can think of that's similar, is check the prompt manager in the Impromptu client web version (the version of the report you published to IWR), go to the prompt in question, and re-hit the buttons for 'USE' and 'DISPLAY'. This has burned me, I inadvertently hit the button for display while it was hilited on the code field, while the client version correctly had the 'USE' for the code, and the 'DISPLAY' for the decode (company name)'. In short, open the report that get shuttled and published in Impromptu client, go to prompt manager, and hit the right buttons 'USE' and 'DISPLAY', republish to IWR, retest.

My personal experience with this is that anytime a report that takes prompt from a "Report Picklist" is modified and republished to IWR, it behaves erratically.

When I modify such reports I take extra care to re-point the prompt-source-report in the prompt manager, delete ?prompts? from the filter condition and re-insert them including any prompt variables on the header-footer of the main report.
