Impromptu Grouping

Hi,

In impromptu when i do the Auto group, the report returns data with in 1 or 2 min. If i reomve Auto group, and doing some columns group it is taking time to run.

When i see the query if Auto group it's creating single selecting statement query , when remove Auto group and doing some group columns i am getting subquery and performance of th report slow.

What could be the reason???

Sri,

When you select Auto-Group, Impromptu is not bringing detail rows back into the report. Every row in the resulting query is either a column data is grouped on, or a summary function result. Note the presence of a group by clause in the Report | Query | Profile SQL button. The aggregation is done on the database server and is usually very fast.

Yes Dave,
If i did Auto group report will show according to that groups and associations , but i don't want some grouped columns and association. I want group&Association on some coulmns and report data will show according to my requirements. But when i did manually grouping the Cognos query is creating subquery, and performance of report is also slow. Is it possible to avoid this subquiery in Impromptu?? How can I improve report performance?? Already backend also Indexed.

Please help out....

Change the Querry Processing to Flexible and check the performance.
