Hi,

I am currently using Impromptu 7.1 to generate a flat file out of an oracle database.

I need to import this flat file into an access 2000 database. My problem is that the date/time fields do not accurately show down to seconds. eg. 01/07/2003 12:12:00

When I import this file the seconds are always zero. I am saving the flat file as type .csv not sure if this has something to do with the format. Also having difficulties importing as type .txt as an alternative.

Can anyone help me with the above?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

This really depends on what stage the seconds are lost from your data ?

are there seconds in the oracle database ?
are seconds displayed in impromptu ?
are seconds in the exported CSV file ?

Thanks Gary

Seconds are stored in the oracle database. It seems that Impromptu is not exporting seconds to either a csv file or a txt file. The only way I can get impromptu to export seconds into this format is using .xls and due to the size of the flat file to be exported this is not possible. ie. records truncated.

And yes seconds are displayed in the impromptu report, however can't export them.

Thanks

I've had a look and tried amy variations and can't get Impromptu to save the seconds when saved as CSV or TXT files.

The only suggestions I have are if you must use Impromptu, split the report into chunks that can be saved in excel with format (this will keep the dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm:ss formatting.

Or

Link to your oracle database from Access 2000 and Import the data directly.
