Is there a way to automate the changing of a Catalog password?

Our database passwords change every 30 days. We have DB ID's and passwords hard-coded in our catalogs. I would like to write some sort of script to:

1. Open a catalog
2. Change the password
3. Close the catalog.

Has anyone successfully done this?

Thanks!!!

I don't see an OLE automation method for Impromptu to change the userclass passwords in any version thru 6.0. I'll keep my eyes out and report back if I find out different.

Sorry,

Dave Griffin

Thanks!!! I haven't seen anything either. It's too bad if Cognos really didn't take that into consideration. We have about 15-20 catalogs that we don't want to have to manually go into each month to change the password. I'm sure my situation isn't unique where our DB password changes every 30 days.

mj,

I'll start working with the first RBF of Impromptu Series 7 next month. I'll let you know what I find about changes to catalog automation.

Dave Griffin ;-)
