impromptu alternative`

hello,
I am looking for a program in which I could import tables much like impromptu, but I don not want the joins to be there. I would like to set the joins up myself within the program. For instance, I would like my tables to be brought directly in. i would like to pull data from various tables, and then set up joins every time I create a query. I do not want to use Microsoft query, however.

If anybody could recommend a program that can do this, I would greatly appreciate it.

I would really love to be able to configure Impromptu to perform like this, but I don't think that's possible.

I'm not sure why you want to do this, but it is possible to skip the join process in the catalog, and do the joins within the detail filter portion of the report. The only limitation is that it is difficult to handle outer joins.

There are many other report writers out there, crystal reports is one that i use that could allow you to do this.
