Importing Word text 1

Yo. I'm working in Quark 4.04 on a Mac G4, 500 megs of ram installed. When I use the "Get Text" command to import text from a Word file (sent by a client) I get rubbish characters. If I then open the file in Word 98 for Mac and resave it as a plain text file, I can import it into my Quark layout. Is there an import filter I should have? If so, where can I get it?

Would upgrade to 4.11 to start with.

There should be Xtension for inporting word documents into Quark, for the lastist versions have a look at Quarks web site.

Have you tried copying and passing between word and Quark? If you can't fix it in 20 minutes call someone who can.

I have Quark 4.04 and had this same problem recently. I solved it by downloading the XTension: MS-Word 8 Filter 1.2, available at Quark's site. Go to:

and search for it. It's listed as the 55th download.

4.04 has the MS-Word 6-7 Filter, but not 8, so this will probably solve your problem.
