We have had some real good tech spend quite abit of time trying to figure out why we can't get any CP 100 3.0 to upload .vbk files, or what we think are .vbk file. The error we get is "invalid file format." We have tried on the customers CP, our test bed CP, a CP 150 3.0 and can't seem to get any of them to accept the file needed to play the pre-recorded greetings.

The instrcutions in unified messeging state to:
Open Call Pilot player
Click File-Open-Browse to file.
Play file, when finished choose save as
Save file with .vbk instead of .wav

However when trying to import, we get file error message.

We have tried all types of .wav files, we have exported .711 files from a BCM and coverted them to .vbk, we have read manuals, applied patches, we have asked Nortel engineers infact we have done everything but pay the ridiculous contract price to Nortel to fix it.

If you have any info that might help us it would be GREATLY appreciated.

TIA.

Just checking, are you using the CP player corresponding to the CP release
(for eg you dont want to be using a player from say rel 1.5 or 2)

Hello RYLSFAN,

There was a known issue on cp100/150 rel 3.00.XX with importing .vbk file.
The fix is; update your CP to 31.10.23.22 then use the callpilot player that comes with CP 3.1 utilities cd and you'll be able to import.

If you dont have the upgrade kit(it's a blank pcmcia card that you put the latest software on) Just pop-out the pcmcia card from the call pilot, put in in your pc(the pc will recognize it as another drive) and delete all files(Yes you can delete everything because the customer database and the keycodes are hidden in another partition) then unzip the latest CP software found on Nortel website(31.10.23.22) on your pcmcia card and put it back in your call pilot. If you connect using Hyperterminal, you'll see all the steps that the CP is going thru and at the end you'll see "voicemail core ready" or something like that.
Don't forget to do a backup first just in case...!
