I receive errors ("Record is too large", "Overflow")when I attempt to use the Transfer Text and Import functions on a tab delimited .txt file.

However when I import and save the .txt file in Excel, the .txt file imports without error into Access. (I save the file in Excel as a .txt file)

What can I do to eliminate the Excel step?

I created an import specification in Access using the Excel version of the .txt. However, the specification does not work for a .txt that has not been imported and saved in Excel.

Also, is there some way to view the import spec without going through the import procedure of selecting File/Get External Data/Import/Advanced menu options?

1. If you send me a sample of your text, I may be able to figure out why it won't import into Access; could be any number of reasons.

2. You MAY be able to get the info from your import spec by going to Tools-Database Utilites-Documenter. Not sure. Don't have an import spec to test.
