How can I import a tagged text file with indexed personal names into Pagemaker 7(Win). I used the syntax:
Code:
<*INDEX 1 1 0 0 0 ("Chlodwig" "" "")>Chlodwig
...
but the tag wasn't encoded after PageMaker import and no index was created. Has anybody a helpful idea?

I'm no expert at this, but here's a sample which works.
Save the text below as something like taggedtext.txt

When you import it, make sure only "ReadTags" is checked.
Code:
<PMTags1.0 win>
<@Index title:><\<>Index title>Index
<@Index section:><\<>Index section>A
<@Index level 1:><\<>Index level 1>Arsenal 1
<@Index section:><\<>Index section>C
<@Index level 1:><\<>Index level 1>Chelsea 2
<@Index section:><\<>Index section>E
<@Index level 1:><\<>Index level 1>Everton 3
<@Index section:><\<>Index section>L
<@Index level 1:><\<>Index level 1>Liverpool 4
You will need to have the following named styles in your style palette:
Index title
Index section and
Index level 1

If not, you can create them either by defining them using tags (not easy) or as you'd create any other style.

The best way to learn the tags is to export tagged text from PM.
