Hi, I have a small problem importing text.
When I import text made in Illustrator into ID it chops up the text and starts new text blocks randomly troughout the text.
It cuts the text in the middle of sentences and even words.
Can anyone help me? I'm working with a deadline. :)

Thanks in advance,

J. Salvador

I could ask the obvious question and ask why do the text in AI instead of ID to start with? But since you have, try copying and pasting, rather than saving as an AI or PDF file and placing it in ID.

The design team gave me the files in .eps
I need to import the text into ID cause it has a certain layout.
I have tried copying and pasting directly but the text just gets screwed up,
the layout remains intact but some spaces are added and new text areas appear.
I really have no clue what to do.

Have you converted the EPS to AI?

Let's back up a bit. Do you need to edit the text? If not, just save it as an AI file and place it in ID. If you need to edit the text, do it first in AI.

Yeah thanks for the advice its kind of working now.
The problem was that I had to make 60 pages of the same layout text but with 60 different texts.

What I do now is i change the text in AI.
Save as PDF and import into ID.
This works.

I dont know what exactly I did wrong... could be a bug?

You should be able to skip the pdf conversion and just place the Ai in ID - leaving the text editable in AI since it's a link.

Using OSX 10.3.9 on a G4

This works aswell, but the text is NOT editable in InDesign ... thats really too bad cos this is gonna take ages now.
But thanks for the advice people.
