Hi there,
I was given a template to use for formating a booklet (100 pages). The template is in PDF format. the templates are:
-cover page
-inside pages
-backpage

1) How can I import these pdf (image) templates in to IDC2 and use them to design the book?
thanks

A pdf is not really a proper template, as opposed to an INDT file, but it can be used as a basis.

Open a new ID doc and place one of the pdfs you got. On Window menu open layers and add a new blank layer. While working in layer 2 you can use the various tools to set guides, draw text boxes, copy colors, etc that match the pdf. If you need to know the fonts you’ll have to open the pdf in Acrobat or Reader and see what they are via the Document Properties on the file menu.

Once that’s done you can save the new doc as a real template by Save and select Template from the drop down menu in the save window. You can trash the layer with the pdf or keep it until you’re done with the job, and then trash it before sending out the final.

Hi there,
Thank you for your help. I am familiar with template in Photoshop but not in InDesign. Hopefully it would be OK. I will let you know.
thanks
