I have recently installed Crystal reports on my machine. I know in MIcrosoft Access that it's possible to import a table from an ODBC link for reporting on. Is this possible in Crystal?

Thanks

I am not sure what you mean by "importing a table", but you can report off of any ODBC datasource if thats what you want to do.

Give me some more data such as what data you want to report on, what database type, etc. and we can go from there.

By importing the tables, I mean rather then "linking" to the odbc data source, I would like to physically import the tables to my machine and query them from there.

I need to do this, because querying the tables via odbc over the network, the queries take up to three hours (don't ask me why!!).

I've found if I "import" the tables using Microsoft Access, the queries of course work much quicker. Does this make sense??!! :)

If you place an Access database locally and import them into that, then you can use them from Crystal.

Crystal is not a database, it is a reporting tool, hence it does not have import capabilities.

Perhaps taking a cattle prod to the Network Administrator's soft underbelly might help...

Thanks synapsevampire. I didn't realise I could just point to my access database that has my imported tables in it.... Thanks so much for your help.
