I'm importing tables to a new server with a different tablespace and owner to that of the old server. Do i need to recreate tables and tablespace first to the new server before importing? or do i need to proceed without recreating tables and tablespace?

Any ideas please. Thank you so much

Rommel -
You don't have to create a new tablespace; tables will be built in the user's default tablespace if the original tablespace name is not present. However, if you are importing into a different user schema, you will have to set the FROMUSER and TOUSER parameters when you run IMP.

carp,

Is this different in 8 then? I always thought that imp needed tablespaces of the same names... (I could just be wrong though ;-))

No, this isn't new (at least, it could be done in O7.3).
