I have been operating with Sidekick for some years, using a free program that came with a PC magazine cover disk. A few weeks ago my PC hard disk Windows98SE became corrupted, and I decided to change to Windows XP, before
doing this I transferred all files to a dvd and formatted the HD. When I try to activate Sidekick, having reloaded all files back into the PC, I get the following message in a pop-up window:
Important Note - You have changed your Sidekick.ini file, please specify the
data directory of Sidekick this then gives a slot with the words:
?\DATA\ and an OK button
if i click on OK I am told that:
An error has occurred in your application. If you choose Ignore, you should
saveyou should save your work in a new file. If you choose Close, your
application will terminate. If I choose Ignore I get the following message:
SIDEKICK caused a General Protection Fault in module LDSKW.DLL at 0003.010B
Choose closE, SIDEKICK will close.
All the files appear to be present (though ungettatable), though SIDEKICK.ini appears to be in the SKW2 directory, which I believe may be wrong.
Can anyone give any help or advice. I have so many Names and contact details in there, all of which I need for my business. I should say that the original disk from which I had the program is lost.
