Importing report from access database

I have an access database with a long report showing customers and their details.

I would like to import that report to an intranet site, so that members of staff can look at the report, without needing to make any changes to it.

I can import the background query, but that shows in table format.

I have imported the report, but it allocates a separate html page to each page of the report, giving me over 20 html pages. I would like the whole report on one html page, so that staff members can just scroll down the page to get to what they want. Is this possible?

Thank you

I don't know that much about importing reports and so forth, but have you considered using the DRW to display the data on a web page similar to the data that the report is showing?

This site has some great tips and tutorials on using the FrontPage DRW:

Thanks for your suggestion. I've tried creating a database connection and a pick list and detail page, but am still finding that the results appear in a long table on the screen. As there twenty to thirty fields I wish to show for eacgh record, it isn't very practical.

Is there any way of showing the record selected in a columnar layout individually, rather than a long table row?

Thank you

Thanks, that's great.

I still seem to have a problem, though.

I downloaded the demo database 'autos' from the website you suggested, and have followed the instructions to try to create a display sheet and a picklist. However, when I go into "Preview in Brlwser", I get "> instead of a list of cars, which then returns no cars.

I think I followed the instructions correctly, and can't work out what I am doing wrong.

Any ideas?

I'm previewing before publishing. Do I need to publish to see the results?

The server does support ASP.

My problem seems to come when I try to add a parameter value to the hyperlink.

My database is called web with one table with a field called name and a field called address, my pick list is called health_pick.asp and my display page is called health links. When I try to add a parameter value, I select the name field, right click to go into the hyperlink box and select health_links.asp

I then click parameters, but the insert field value button is greyed out, and there is already health-links.asp in the path box.

I tried publishing anyway and got the following error message on the website

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'FP_FieldVal'

/pick_health.asp, line 55

Do you have any idea how I might solve this problem?

Thank you

I've checked with the webhost and they confirm that they do support ASP. Could there be any other reason for the error message

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a000d'

Type mismatch: 'FP_FieldVal'

/pick_health.asp, line 55

OK - your table should have a default ID field, which is an auto number field.

When you create the hyperlink - you should highlight the <<ID>> and open the hyperlink dialog box - select your health_links.asp page, then click Parameters, Add, click in the Path box, Insert Field Value, choose ID from the dropdown list.

the mismatch error usually indicates that there is a mismatch in field types - like a field in the database that is set as a numerical field and you are trying to add or pull text from a numerical field.

Is it always necessary to have the ID field? I do have an auto id field set up in the database, but it's not something I really want appearing on the website.

I used the name field in the add criteria box to compare to the value (both are text fields). Is that why the pages wouldn't work? If I have to use the ID number, is there a way of stopping the ids from appearing on the website?

Hi. I'm still not able to choose ID in the insert field value. I highlight the ID and open the hyperlink dialog box. I select your health_links.asp page, then click Parameters, Add, click in the Path box , Insert Field Value. But I don't then get to choose ID from the dropdown list. The dropdown list is empty.

I've tried adding ID to the criteria box on the display page, and I've tried having ID on my display and pick page (even though I'd rather not have them). But nothing seems to make ID appear as a drop down option. Help.

I've started again from scratch, and this time have been able to get a drop down box to appear (but only with the ID field showing on both pages). However, all that appears in the list is >"

I've had this problem before and don't know how to solve it. The hyperlink is set up by clicking on entries already on the system, so I can't find anything to change. When I tried fiddling with the html code, the whole list disappeared, so I won't do that again.

Can anybody help me?
