We just moved over to Microsoft Exchange Online from our previous system. Everyone is running Outlook 2007 on their machines. For access to our old messages everyone has added their PST files through the Data File Management process.
To import calendars everyone has been exporting their old calendars to CSV and then importing them again into their new calendars. This way they will have their appointments from the old calendar which will sync with their calendars online.
The major problem I've run into is that there is no way to export\import recurring tasks. My boss has a huuuge amount of them and he's not happy with the idea of recreating them.
There MUST be some sort of workaround! Third party app, home-written script, anything!
