Importing PowerPoint Show

Is there a way to import a PowerPoint show or file into Premiere? A friend gave me the PowerPoint files. The PowerPoint consists of numerous slides, each with its own graphics image (imported JPEGS). He used PowerPoint's transitions to make a slideshow.

I'd like to insert the show into Premiere to append to a working project I have started. I know I can export each PowerPoint slide as a separate graphics file, and then import each one individually, but that seems tedious, not to mention reinserting all the transitions.

Any ideas? Thanks!

You could use a screen capturing software like Camstasia or SnagIt to capture your Powerpoint show and save it as a video file (avi?) to import into your Premiere timeline.

I would simply export each slide as a bitmap, then bring the bitmaps into Premiere and use whatever Premiere transition you want to go from one slide to the next. You might, I suppose, see that as tedious. I see it as expedient. PowerPoint can't decide what it is, so there's no way to cleanly export it.

If your slides have "active" content, as in things that jump around, you'll spend a little more time replicating that.

If you can't export a bitmap that looks as good as the onscreen version, then just grab screenshots by pressing ALT-Print-Screen and pasting them into, say, Photoshop.

Good luck!
