Greetings everyone -

I was wondering if anyone has imported notes into Great Plains?

Here's scenario - client is currently running erp system and has decided to implement Great Plaind Mfg. The current erp system is MAX running on Pervasive SQL.

I need to import inventory items from MAX with item notes into Great Plains as items and with the notes. I have expereince importing items using integration manager and table import. I have never attempted to import notes.

Any thoughts?

Feedback is appreciated.

Thanks

i've implemented MAX before when GP didn't have the manufacturing modules yet.

i heard they're working on including manufacturing in integration mgr and the target is to have it in the next version. if this is something you need to do right away and table import didn't work, try SQL DTS.

Thank you for your reply. Importing Item Notes in GP involves putting notes into SY03900 table.

Max stores notes alot differently than GP. MAX stores each line of the note (as seen in note screen) as a record. So, if a note takes up 3 lines - MAX stores 3 records. In GP, the same note is 'smashed together into one long text'. Yet, GP if the user enters the note and uses tabs, spaces, etc. to 'format' the note - the note is stored as one long text - but, when note screen is open - the format remains the same.

So, doing an import - the 3 MAX notes will be one note in GP - but I don't know how I will create tabs, spaces, etc. during the import.

Any thoughts?
