Hi
We have installed MAS 200 very recently and trying to import Inventory data. We would like to import all the data except standard cost(as the data is not complete). My question is can we import standard cost separately so that cost will be updated into the Inventory?
We have Virtual Importer module(not yet explored how it works).
Thanks.

Yes you could import the data separately if you like. It is not terribly tricky though give yourself some extra time and make sure you test your intial results adequately.

What I've generally done is import the Inventory Master then go in and do a receipt transaction to get the quantities on hand. Sometimes I do this receipt manually and other times I'll have the client post it.

I'd also recommend grabbing the latest patches for MAS200 - there have been several for Inventory and that is one area where I've seen a great benefit from keeping up on the latest program releases.

The patches can be downloaded directly from Best's site at
and as always - don't apply the patches if you have third party enhancements without first checking with your reseller.

Could you please elaborate on this. How to do a receipt transaction? What does it mean by "client post it"?. Could you please give us the path which will be great help.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Sure, step one would be to import to the Inventory Master file. This gets all of you Inventory Items setup.

Before you do the import to the Inventory Master - you'll need to make sure that some of the other files have been populated - namely the Product Lines - which each Inventory Item must contain a link to.

To determine what fields are needed (required) on the Inventory Import - print the data dictionary listing from within Visual Integrator. That print out will show each field -- as well as if it is required (or if it validates itself against another file).

Secondly, after you get the Inventory setup - then you can go into Inventory - Transaction Entry - to pull in the transactions to post quantity/costs. I usually do this manually though it can be imported as well.

Leave yourself plenty of time to test and try things out as the first few times through Visual Integrator it can be tricky.
