Hi All,

Is there a difference in importing data into Access from either Excel 2003 or a txt file?

I am in the habit of saving an excel sheet into a txt format then importing the txt into Access. Is this step a waste of time? i.e. should I just import the excel sheet directly into Access?

Many thanks

Michael

you can import directly from excel into access. you just have to specify column names at the first row of data. the column names must be valid. some characters can not be in column names, like =, +, -, #, >, < etc.
and when you import into access, it will ask you if the first row contains column names or not.
